I tend to spend a great deal of time on the pottery wheel throwing my work. When I sit down at the wheel, I typically have designs in mind and will throw many of the same forms. This helps me to hone my craft and also makes each piece a little different from the last.

For my horseshoe crabs, I made plaster molds from real horseshoe crab shells that I found on local beaches in Rhode Island. Then, I slip cast these forms and hand trim the spines to make each crab unique and one of a kind. They can be placed on a table/shelf or hung on a wall.
